Twitter Bitch Fight of the Week: Morgan vs Wakeford

An unstoppable political force has met an immovable broadcasting object, as Tory Labour MP Christian Wakeford makes his Twitter Bitch Fight debut against series veteran Piers Morgan. A culture war clash of the ‘titans’…

The opening bell rang when Piers decided he wanted some attention. With the England Women’s football team beating Spain last night, Morgan spotted his chance:

Of course, Wakeford swallowed this planet-sized bait whole, wading in to teach Morgan a lesson in civility and inclusive language by calling him “a pathetic d*ckhead”:

Having found an opponent with enough time on their hands to bother replying, Morgan immediately shot back:

Wakeford still had plenty of fight in him, hitting Morgan where it hurts… his viewership:

Ooof. Of course, Piers wasn’t about to back down either:

A “ludicrous twerp“. What a haymaker. Still, Wakeford kept the fight going by revealing he can’t actually count:

Realising there were in fact 22 women on the pitch last night, not 11, Wakeford gave it another go, although he still hasn’t yet responded to Piers’ direct question of “what is a woman?“. Perhaps he’ll save that for a future bout. For now, Guido leaves it, as always, for co-conspirators to decide the victor…

Piers Still Losing to GB News in Prime Time

Given Piers is boasting about getting “DOUBLE” the ratings of Sky News last night – it appears he now once again believes conventional ratings matter – Guido did his due diligence and checked the BARB figures. In fairness to Piers, Uncensored got 55,600 viewers last night across the hour, with Sky managing 29,500 from 7-7:30 pm, before dropping to 26,600 in the second half of the slot. Well done Piers.

What Piers forgot to mention is he was beaten by GB News, again. Mark Steyn got 64,500 viewers in the same slot, with Farage storming to the front of the pack again with 105,700 an hour earlier. Farage also topped the BBC, which managed 84,900 in his slot…

Patrick Christys, covering for Dan Wootton, got 49,000, virtually neck-and-neck with Beth Rigby’s new show at 50,800. Tom Newton Dunn, meanwhile, entertained his loyal fan club of 4,600…

Farage and Wootton Smash Piers’ Viewing Figures Again

It was a big politics night last night, all happening in the evening primetime hours. It’s been a while since Guido last checked in on TalkTV’s ratings, and given yesterday’s packed news flow, he thought it was time to take another look. Despite broadcasting a blockbuster two-hour special last night, Unwatched clocked in with 46,700 viewers, half Farage’s 99,400 and just over a third of Dan Wootton’s audience of 115,000 viewers. Tom Newton Dunn also aired for two hours, to the delight of his 4,000 or so viewers…

Trump Mocks Piers Morgan’s Ratings

The Donald is blunt

“Piers opened STRONG with me, then “died.” He now only draws flies.”

GB News Again Beats TalkTV in Every Prime Time Slot

Another rough start to the week for TalkTV. The latest BARB figures show GB News thrashed them in every prime time slot last night, with Farage miles ahead at 99,000 viewers. Piers Morgan Unwatched came in fifth with 42,500. Maybe his upcoming six-week break in the summer will be a chance to recharge the batteries…

Piers was beaten last night by Bev Turner (standing in for Dewbs), Mark Steyn, Dan Wootton, and of course, Nigel. The last 15 minutes of Piers Morgan Unwatched recorded a zero percentage audience share. Turner, as a stand-in presenter, even scored higher than her colleagues broadcasting in the later, usually more popular slots. She got 53,500, while Steyn got 47,900 and Wootton got 44,100.

Meanwhile over in the baby-Shard, Tom Newton Dunn’s Lazarus-like resurgence back into five figure viewership is, sadly, over. Last night only 4,600 people tuned in. At least he did better than Sharon Osborne, who was watched by just 2,200 viewers. Still early days…

UPDATE: An earlier version of this article referenced Michelle Dewberry as the presenter in second place. Bev Turner actually stood in for Dewberry last night. She tweeted “I’m sure Piers Morgan is delighted for me. I couldn’t know because I’m blocked.” Mea culpa…

GB News Comedians Beat Piers, Sky News in Second Place

It is once again Guido’s solemn duty to report Piers’ bad news. Last night his show plunged to 36,500 viewers. In the same time slot, Mark Steyn pulled in more than double that for GB News at 78,200. Piers was even beaten by the GB News’ Headliners, a show in which comedians read the papers and break no news. They got 49,600. Remember, as Piers will tell you whenever his overnight ratings tank, conventional TV ratings “don’t matter”… unless he wins. No such luck last night.

Meanwhile over at Sky News, having finally dumped the dire Daily Climate Show from primetime, ratings surged back up to around 70,000 for that slot, which didn’t help Piers much for the second half of his show. Sky News is finally back in second place behind the BBC, having learned their lesson after watching their viewership halve every time they aired the doom-mongering nonsense. Piers is probably the only person who’ll miss it…

In an unusual twist, Nigel Farage finally dipped below his GB News colleagues, with both Dan Wootton and Mark Steyn beating him last night. Farage pulled in 62,900, with Wootton getting 67,300. Farage is usually at the top of the pile and is considered GB News’ box office king. Even Brillo said as much last week on SpectatorTV, when he suggested Murdoch should put a bid in for Farage to jump ship and suck in viewers for the ailing TalkTV. At one point pointing out how slotting Farage in Newton Dunn’s slot might give Piers a well-needed leg up an hour later – poor Tom…

To be fair to Tom Newton Dunn, his viewership climbed to 17,100 last night. There’s still hope…
