Invitations have been going around for the launch of an anti-social behaviour awareness campaign next month. Sponsored by – you guessed it – Mike Amesbury himself…
The launch is hosted by ‘Community Safety Organisation’ Resolve. The invitation reads:
“Sponsored by Mike Amesbury MP. You are cordially invited to the Parliamentary Launch of ASB Awareness Week 2024. Join us for the official launch of this year’s national Anti-Social Behaviour Awareness Week campaign, which is running from the 18th – 24th November. The theme for this year’s campaign is ‘Making Communities Safer’. Your attendance would be very well received.”
Amesbury sponsored last year’s event and is scheduled to do the same this time round. The important campaign launch will be held in the Commons’ Churchill Room at 6 p.m. on Monday 18th November. It should be a hit…

He said it…
Mere minutes after Reform called for him to resign. It’s the punching footage wot done it…
Labour says:
“Mike Amesbury MP has been assisting Cheshire Police with their inquiries following an incident on Friday night. As these inquiries are now ongoing, the Labour Party has administratively suspended Mr Amesbury’s membership of the Labour Party pending an investigation.”
Better late than never…
In footage shot by the public, Labour MP for Runcorn and Helsby Mike Amesbury threatens a man who has been knocked onto the road in Frodsham, Cheshire. Amesbury had to be physically pushed away from the man multiple times…
He continues to threaten the floored man:
“You won’t ever threaten me again, will you? You won’t ever threaten me again.”
Watchers-on pointed out that he’s the local MP, he responds: “Yes I am, and you won’t threaten the MP ever again, will you?” One helpful punter chipped in: “The MP for Gobshites”…
Amesbury held four shadow ministerial positions until he was dropped from the frontbench before the election. Wonder why…
Is anywhere safe from Labour any more? His whips may want to look into this one…
UPDATE: Cheshire Police say:
“At 2.48am on Saturday 26 October, police were called to reports of an assault in Frodsham. A caller reported he had been assaulted by a man in Main Street. Enquiries are ongoing.”
UPDATE II: Amesbury says:
“Last night, I was involved in an incident that took place after I felt threatened on the street following an evening out with friends.
“This morning, I contacted Cheshire Police myself to report what happened during this incident.
“I will not be making further public comment but will, of course, cooperate with any inquiries if required by Cheshire Police.
“I remain fully committed to working hard for the people of Runcorn and Helsby, and am determined to remain an open and accessible MP for our community.”
UPDATE III: Labour’s statement:
“We are aware of an incident that took place last night. We understand that Mike Amesbury MP approached Cheshire Police to report what happened this morning himself and that he will cooperate with any inquiries they have.”
Speaking at his speech on how to achieve “progressive capitalism” Wes Streeting fired a dig and Andy Burnham:
“Bond markets are not bond villains and fiscal rules matter.”
