The BBC‘s Environment Correspondent Matt McGrath has some stunning news for readers in a piece today revealing that Arctic sea ice increased by around a third in 2014.

McGrath was attempting to explain how, despite the BBC‘s long running campaign to warn the public that sea ice is disappearing, a slightly cooler summer in 2013 led to sea ice growth that more than compensated for losses recorded in the three previous years. Of course 2013 is being described as an “anomalous year.”
