The Brexit Party is still polling as high as 10% in Wales ahead of next year’s assembly elections, yet could be on the verge of a bigger political upset thanks to their new staple policy: abolishing the Welsh Assembly in favour of direct elections for the First Minister. The move is a clever one; Wales has always been the most reluctantly devolved part of the UK, with abolition of its legislature already being backed by 25% of Welsh voters – the same figure supporting Welsh independence…
The bold policy has prompted former Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood to compare the Brexit Party to Hitler.
Wood asks her followers, “Would you ever move to another country then become the leader of a political party that seeks to abolish the parliament of that country? Who would do that?”. Just like Plaid’s Westminster leader, Liz Saville Roberts, who moved from Wales to London, and seeks to abolish the Westminster Parliament of Wales…
Guido is struggling to work out what the former leader of Plaid Cymru is trying to say here. Does she think women should always carry a knife? Is she saying women carrying a knife is justified? Does she always carry a knife herself? She’s now clarified, sort of:
Of course “don’t carry a knife”. Can’t believe some are choosing my words as endorsing or encouraging people to carry a knife. That’s absurd. But if we don’t understand WHY people do something, how will we stop it? We must debate without words being twisted.

Either way, not the sharpest knife in the draw…
TV debates just won’t be the same without Natalie Leanne…
Leanne Wood has been ousted as Plaid Cymru leader following a challenge from party colleagues Rhun ap Iorwerth and Adam Price. Leanne stood in the subsequent leadership election but was knocked out in the first round of voting with only 1286 votes. Natalie’s Leanne’s contributions to TV debates will be greatly missed…
Adam Price then beat Rhun ap Iorwerth by 3481 to 1961 in the second round to become the new leader of the Welsh Nationalists. Llongyfarchiadau…
UPDATE: Plaid Cymru have released this inexplicably bad video to usher in the new Adam Price era:
This was Plaid Cymru leader Leanne Wood and occasional leftie TV debate favourite Leanne Wood posting blind speculation as the attack in Barcelona unfolded:
When it became apparent that it was Islamic extremists, Leanne doubled down:
Would have been better to just step away from the keyboard.
It’s all kicking off in Wales. The Tories and UKIP have backed Plaid’s Leanne Wood for First Minister, meaning the Assembly vote is tied 29-29 between her and Carwun Jones. The presiding officer is overheard asking “What do I do now?” Could the election be re-run?
