Jeremy Corbyn’s aide Jayne Fisher, who Guido revealed has close links to a string of convicted IRA terrorists, has quit after just three months in her job. Team Corbyn say she is leaving on health grounds.
Jezza’s media spokesman Matt Zarb-Cousin is also leaving, returning to his old job at the Campaign for Fairing Gambling. Matt was always reasonable and popular with the Lobby so leaves a space to be filled. Corbyn’s trade union liaison manager Nancy Platts is also out after being sidelined by Karie Murphy. Guido makes that eight high profile departures from Team Jez:
- Simon Fletcher: Quit after falling out with Seumas
- Mike Hatchett: Quit to work for DExEU
- Neale Coleman: Quit after being sidelined by Seumas and Andrew Fisher
- Kevin Slocombe: Quit to work for the Bristol mayor
- Josh Simons: Quit accusing Seumas of grilling him about his family
The only three who really matter are Seumas, Karie and Fisher. Fall out with them and you won’t last long…
Jeremy Corbyn’s new Sinn Fein aide Jayne Fisher has close links to a string of convicted IRA terrorists, Guido can reveal. Fisher is the former head of Sinn Fein’s London office. In 2009 she was filmed singing alongside Brendan “Bik” MacFarlane, an IRA member who was jailed for a bombing and machine gun attack on a bar in Belfast which killed five civilians.
Guido has also found a photo of Fisher (below centre right) in 2012 with Owen Jones and Sinn Fein MLA Jennifer McCann (below centre left), who served ten years for shooting an RUC police officer:
In the photo below from 2014, Fisher is pictured alongside Sinn Fein’s Conor Murphy, who was sentenced to five years in prison for possession of explosives with intent to endanger life in 1982.
Fisher has not responded to several attempts to contact her. She has close links to multiple convicted terrorists, will be interesting to see if she passes the Commons security vetting process…
