Local Labour Candidate Not So Local

Welsh Fraud

Labour’s candidate for the Ogmore by-election is up to all sorts of trickery. Chris Elmore has declared an address in Pencoed, one of the main towns in the constituency, as his residence in his nomination papers. The local candidate, he’d have you think…

Yet according to his public declarations as a councillor, Elmore actually lives in Rhoose in the Vale of Glamorgan, well outside the seat he is fighting. A co-conspirator reports that Elmore’s car was parked outside his house there late the night before last. Who owns the Pencoed home? Labour Assembly member Janice Gregory. Electoral law dictates that candidates must put their true address on their nomination papers…

Corbynista sources say she is “very anti-Corbyn” and blame her for promoting the rumour that the leader’s office was attempting to parachute left-wing ex-MP Katy Clark into the seat. Corbyn’s team say the rumour is untrue. Other local councillors are considering making a formal complaint to Corbyn about the situation. Whether Reeves secures the nomination is seen as a proxy for the battle between Corbyn and the PLP…

Quote of the Day

Ruth Davidson on working with PM Boris

“I have worked with him when he was Foreign Secretary. I will work with whoever the Prime Minister is. I haven’t had a phone call yet to ask me to run his campaign in Scotland. I am not expecting the call. But I will genuinely judge him on the same criteria as I judge any of the candidates.”
