LBC presenter Shelagh Fogarty made an eye-brow raising comment whilst speaking to a caller today. Discussing the American “right-wing media” fuelling Donald Trump’s “oxygen”, she said:
“How can the right-wing media be very small, when Donald Trump only has to put a bandage on his ear to be given world attention?”
Trump was nearly killed…
David Lammy has just been on BBC Breakfast to talk about Starmer’s EPC summit today. Apart from saying Labour isn’t trying to rejoin the EU because “we’re only two weeks into government”, Lammy was asked about his previous comments on Trump. Lammy called Trump a “neo-Nazi-sympathising sociopath” in a 2018 Time opinion piece and said he would be one of “tens of thousands on the streets, protesting against our government’s capitulation to this tyrant in a toupee“. Hysterical…
Naga Munchetty asked: “How does that set up a relationship for you and him if he wins the election?” Lammy’s answer: We’ve all done it…
Lammy said “you’re going to struggle to find any politician who has not had things to say about Donald Trump in his first term.” David Cameron called him a “misogynist” and JD Vance himself had choice words for his now running mate. Unfortunately millions of Americans made the guy President and are about to again…
The Foreign Secretary tried some other lines, like “Donald Trump has the thickest of skins.” When Munchetty asked him if he would, like Vance, say his comments were a mistake, he refused. That bodes well for the special relationship…
Trump selected 39-year-old Ohio Senator J.D. Vance as his running mate last night at the launch of the Republican National Convention. Other potential contenders were drip fed their rejections beforehand…
Venture capitalist Vance wrote a respected 2016 treatise on the intricacies of American (especially middle-) class dynamics and has converted from ardent anti-Trumpism to the intellectual future of the “MAGA movement“. Eyebrows are raised in Ukraine, support for which Vance has heavily criticised…
Trump’s main speech in Milwaukee is on Thursday, which he says he’s changed from a “humdinger” to one of “unity for the country and world“. With a base-oriented VP pick the Trump campaign can get on with pushing its messaging…
Bad news again for Joe Biden as a federal judge today dismissed the ‘classified documents’ case against Donald Trump (who is beginning to look like the recipient of divine intervention). U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon in Florida said federal law doesn’t authorise the way the prosecution had been conducted. A major blow for the left wing lawfare effort that has besieged the former President’s campaign…
The indictment saw Trump charged with 40 felony counts – alleging he had deliberately kept classified and secret material after he had left the White House and had refused to give it back. As Trump heads to the Convention one of the main legal cases against him has been kicked out, he just survived an assassination attempt and there are signs the polls are closing in his favour. We’re going to need a bigger bucket for those liberal tears…
Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt last night, officially confirmed by the US authorities as a full on attempt on the former President’s life. One bystander was killed and two others were critically injured after “multiple shots” were fired, the Secret Service confirmed in a statement. Authorities further identified the suspected shooter as Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, a Pennsylvania man who lived an hour’s drive from the rally. There’s no doubt this was a serious and premeditated attempt to kill Trump with a rifle in a JFK-style assasination…
Odd, then, that some mainstream media hot takes came out of the oven undercooked. As the former President came within a whisker of being blown into oblivion on live TV, this was the reaction of Sky News’s James Matthews:
“In the aftermath of events in Pennsylvania, there were reminders from Trump opponents about how, in the past, he had joked about the brutal assault on the husband of former Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Likewise, his downplaying of a kidnap plot against Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer wasn’t forgotten. No one’s claiming that anything justified an assassination attempt but the clear suggestion is that Donald Trump played his part in changing the rules of engagement and recklessly drove hostility in US politics.”
The station coupled the piece with this tweet – seeming to suggest Trump was to blame:
Nothing justifies an assassination bid – but did Trump play part in changing the rules of engagement?

Politico reported earlier this week that Biden reportedly told donors: “I have one job, and that’s to beat Donald Trump. I’m absolutely certain I’m the best person to be able to do that. So, we’re done talking about the debate, it’s time to put Trump in a bullseye.” Brace for more liberal hot takes…
The consensus from last night’s presidential debate is: It is now dawning on Democrats that Biden will be a serious liability by November, he is letting Trump get away with it. This time around the combatants’ microphones were muted while the other was talking. Not that it helped…
Less than 10 minutes into the debate Biden started freezing. Halfway through the White House began to brief that he had a cold. After a bad bout the President managed to say: “Look, we finally beat Medicare,” before being cut off by moderators. Kamala Harris seriously struggled to defend the performance. Democrats are still pouring in to describe it as an “unmitigated disaster”, “a slow-motion car crash”, “a meltdown”…
All the Trump campaign has had to do is string together the clips of Biden freezing. The debate is so early in the year that Democrats can still replace him at the DNC. California Governor Gavin Newsom’s ears have just pricked up…
