The Mirror report that the latest celeb to be caught up in an alleged tax avoidance scheme is former Man United manager Alex Ferguson:
“Investors in Eclipse Film Partners No 35 LLP collectively ploughed £50million into the fund, which totalled £840million after huge loans were taken on. They then bought rights to Disney films Enchanted and Underdog before sub-leasing them back in a deal with the studio.
While this is a common industry deal, HMRC said the scheme was designed purely to exploit tax breaks on film investment and that the LLP was not trading.”
