The National Education Union – run by socialist Daniel Kebede – is now campaigning for a ban on social media for children under the age of 16. Pointless…
Kebede says in the Guardian that the UK should follow Denmark:
“Children in the UK should be offered the same protection from voracious social media companies that the Danish government has committed to providing (Denmark plans social media ban for under-15s as PM warns phones ‘stealing childhood’, 7 October) so that we can put a stop to the immense damage they are wreaking.
The crisis they have created is why we launched our campaign calling for exactly that, and we are not alone in wanting action – 70% of the UK public believe that social media companies are robbing children and young people of their childhoods, and want to see the digital age of consent raised from 13 to 16.”
In Denmark 94% of children already violate the 13-year-old ‘digital age of consent.’ The policy would introduce more pointless bureaucracy…
Funnily enough the NEU will find itself at odds with the Labour government which is planning to shove phones into children’s hands so it can force them to possess a Digital ID. No doubt Labour will try doing both and make an even worse hash of it…
To jog your memory, Powell said when Tim Montgomerie mentioned rape gangs:
“Oh, we want to blow that little trumpet now, do we? Yeah, OK, let’s get that dog whistle out.”
She has now told GB News’ Christopher Hope:
“I absolutely regret that remark. And I immediately and quickly said so, and was really sorry about that. And I’m glad you’ve asked me, because I know it was a point of discussion on your channel a lot. What really upset me was to think that I had upset people, that people had taken that as somehow dismissing the issue, which absolutely was not what I was seeking to do or my intention, because there is not a fibre in my body that thinks we should not hold to account absolutely, publicly and robustly, those responsible for the terrible grooming gangs… I didn’t mean it as a racist thing, actually. And I’m really, really sorry about that.”
Co-conspirators can make up their own minds…
Guido’s FoI Unit can reveal the Department for Business and Trade has splurged £39,700 on social media influencers since July 2024. Nothing says business confidence like hiring TikTokers to promote policy…
For that you could:
The taxpayer may have a view on which should be prioritised. UK DOGE recommends costs are cut here…
An Afghan migrant who crossed the channel in a small boat has been found guilty of threatening to kill Nigel Farage. In a clip shared to TikTok, Fayaz Khan threatened to shoot Farage after the Reform UK leader posted a video about illegal migration:
“You not know me. I come to England because I want to marry with your sister. You not know me. Don’t talk about me more. Delete the video. I’m coming to England. I’m going to pop, pop, pop.”
Fayaz was found guilty at Southwark crown court after a three-day trial. He also faces a separate charge of child pornography for allegedly photographing a naked girl aged under-18. He has already previously been imprisoned in Sweden for saying he would rape and stab a woman.
Speaking to Adam Boulton on Times Radio about kicking the Golders Green suspect, Heidi Alexander said:
“I thought that if I was in the shoes of that police officer, then if I’m honest, given the situation, and the fact that he had a backpack on his back, and they were worried about whether that might go off, I could, if I was a police officer, frankly, I could see myself having taken similar action.”
