Young Liberals Vote to Expel Vince Cable for Uyghur Genocide Comments

Last night, Young Liberals voted to expel former LibDem leader Vince Cable from the party after insisting on GB News that labelling the Uyghur humans rights crisis a genocide is hyping the language” . The motion’s proposer, Young Liberals’ International Officer Peter Banks, slammed Cable in his speech, saying:

“Uyghurs in Xinjiang have faced horrific abuse by the Chinese government, including forced sterilisation, torture, restrictions on childrens’ names, destruction of religious sites, forced separation of families, and detainment in re-education camps.”

“These atrocities undoubtedly meet the international definition of genocide, and it’s a disgrace that the former leader of a liberal, democratic party would seek to undermine emerging international campaigns to put an end to the abuses of Uyghurs.”

A Guido source who attended the conference said that roughly 50 people participated in the vote and it passed nearly unanimously. Guido wonders whether Ed Davey, who has thus far been strong on condemning the genocide, will have anything to say about all this…

Cable hit back at the Young Liberals by saying:

“They cannot claim to be Liberals when they demonstrate an unwillingness to debate alternate views. The anti-China campaign is orchestrated by the far right Republicans in the USA and I am surprised to see progressive groups lining up with them.”

Is the CCP looking for a new communications director?

UK Imposes Economic Sanctions on Belarus for First Time Ever

The government has pressed ahead with economic sanctions against Belarus, with UK firms now prohibited from selling financial services to the country, import bans enforced against potash and petroleum resources, and export bans on any products which could be used for to undermine democracy and human rights.

Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab said:

“These sanctions demonstrate the UK will not accept Lukashenko’s actions since the fraudulent election. The products of Lukashenko’s state-owned industries will not be sold in the UK, and our aerospace companies will not touch his fleet of luxury aircraft.”

Exactly a year after Lukashenko “won” the presidential election…

Trudeau is G7 Carbon Dioxide Emissions Bad Boy

In response to today’s doomsday climate report, Boris claims that “the UK is leading the way, decarbonising our economy faster than any country in the G20 over the last two decades.” The UK now has the second-lowest CO2 emissions per capita in the G7. Only nuclear energy powered France has lower emissions. Britain’s doing far better than most when it comes to tackling climate change and reducing carbon emissions:

Canada, on the other hand, has the highest levels of carbon dioxide emissions per capita out of the entire G20 – pumping out more than triple that of the UK. Liberal golden boy Trudeau’s halo is tarnished by emissions…

China makes up the largest share of world’s carbon emissions at 29.1% followed by the US and then India – shares which are primarily a function of their population sizes. However, is it any wonder that developing country India is reluctant to commit to net zero, especially when its emissions are one tenth per capita that of Canada’s

Reform Party Unbankable

Reform Party leader Richard Tice is unhappy, because the party’s bankers are withdrawing their account facilities. The party’s current bankers, Metro Bank, have told him they will no longer accept his business. This is after all the other High Street banks turned them away as well. Laurence Fox also had problems getting a bank account despite having only one donor. Tice held a press conference this morning saying “I’m going to write to the Governor of the Bank Of England to ask the bank itself for clearing bank facilities.” The Old Lady is usually the lender of last resort – not the banker of last resort…

Banks are wary of political accounts because they now have to report “PEPs”: politically exposed persons. This was meant to keep an eye on African and Russian kleptocrats, not small British political parties. Unless they believe that Russian codswallop*…

*Where’s Carole Cadwalladr’s evidence? The wheels of justice are turning very slowly.

Stonewall’s Had Over £3 Million of Taxpayers’ Money Since 2018

A new investigation by the Taxpayers’ Alliance (TPA) has revealed that 327 public bodies – including the NHS – have paid a combined total of over £3 million to Stonewall, the controversial LGBT+ charity and lobbying group, in the past three years. This is in addition to the government grant income, which totalled £2.6 million, between 2015-19.

The investigation also found that 86 universities (over two-thirds of the UK’s total) were signed up to Stonewall’s ‘Diversity Champions’ scheme, which has been under scrutiny for insisting female-only services be abolished – and was even criticised by Equalities Minister Liz Truss, who urged government departments to withdraw from the programme. Apparently Goldsmith’s even paid £326 for its students to have the pleasure of attending a ‘Queering Children’s Literature’ event last year…

The NHS, meanwhile, has sent the group a cool £466,065 since 2018. Guido presumes those lessons on gender-neutral spaces went to good use during the pandemic.

UN Has Been Predicting Planetary Disaster for 50 Years

The UN has been predicting planetary disaster for decades, usually scheduled to happen in about a decade’s time. In 1972 – half a century ago – Maurice Strong, the first UN Environment Programme director warned that the world “had just 10 years to avoid catastrophe”. In 1982 his successor, Mostafa Tolba, the then head of the UN Environment Programme told the world that it had just 18 years before “an environmental catastrophe as irreversible as any nuclear holocaust”. Yet 2000 came and went and we just partied like it was 1999…

In 1989 the official was warning that we have to fix climate change by 1999 or “climate change goes beyond human control”. By 1990 Tolba was warning the world must fix global warming before 1995, “otherwise, we’d lose the climate struggle”. Now 20 years past that date when it was going to be too late, we are still hearing the same claims again.

As sea levels would rise we were told that the Maldives islands would be under water over a decade ago, they’re actually building more luxury hotels. We were told the source of the great Ganges river in the Himalayas, the glaciers, would have melted long ago. The great Ganges river still flows and the glaciers are still there. The Australian Great Barrier reef would be dead, it is alive and thriving. We were told by the UN Food Programme in the sixties that Earth could not feed a growing population and that the future was bleak with much of humanity facing starvation. The earth’s population has more than doubled since the sixties with fewer people in absolute poverty…

Don’t believe the doomsters. Don’t bet against humanity’s ingenuity…
