The PM’s latest reset was introduced to the Commons today – the working-class champion Sir Keir ‘Scrapper’ Starmer, now chewing the ear of the British public. His £1,500 suit and £2,000 spectacles give the wrong impression. He is an undefeated champion of the sweat-soaked, blood-spattered, bare-knuckle ring. He has never lost a fight. Nor will he ever give up on the country he loves – no, whatever the country feels about it.
To launch his reset he entered with a champion’s confidence, smiling and patting Hilary Benn at the despatch box. He sat, chuckled, did a bit of pointing as the leader of the opposition has taught him to do (it shows command).
