Scottish Labour leader Anas Sarwar has just announced that his party will reinstate the Winter Fuel Payment in Scotland. Trouble in paradise?

Scots have not taken the budget well – A Norstat poll two weeks ago had Labour plummeting by seven points since August to only 23%. Reform and the Tories are the parties making gains on the SNP. Under Scottish Labour plans all pensioners would receive the payment to begin with, followed by a taper over several years reducing the payment to wealthier pensioners. Will Sarwar pledge to reverse the Farm Tax in Scotland too?
Speaking at his speech on how to achieve “progressive capitalism” Wes Streeting fired a dig and Andy Burnham:
“Bond markets are not bond villains and fiscal rules matter.”
