Miatta Fahnbulleh’s officials have briefed the Guardian that the Energy Secretary is “minded against” approving the Rosebank oil field later this year. Jackdaw is the small project and largely a token…
Fahnbulleh has argued that the two are different because Rosebank would produce mainly for export:
“One is a gasfield that caters for the domestic market, while the other is an oilfield that is mainly for export… It is right that we judge each application in its own right, and it is absolutely critical that the decision is consistent with our climate obligations, our carbon budgets and the end destination we need to get to with the energy transition.”
Rosebank is much bigger, holding circa 300 million barrels of oil. Billions in tax revenue for the Exchequer…
Donald Trump posted today:
“The UK has started drilling in the North Sea, one of the greatest and most prosperous areas of oil in the world… They should go FULL BLAST!!! This will make the UK very wealthy again. Take down the costly and ridiculous windmills!”
Fahnbulleh has approved some gas and is saying no to the oil…
Robert Jenrick on the Today programme:
“Can you now give a guarantee to your listeners this morning that no BBC presenter in the future will be exposed as a paedophile, as a number have been in the recent past? No, of course you can’t…”
