Here is Chris Bryant’s pearl-clutching tirade after being asked about welfare reform on the Today programme:
“Do you mind if we just actually stick to my job as Northern Ireland Secretary… What happens on the Today programme is Northern Ireland is dealt with for like three minutes… I’m here to talk about my job. Look, we just had a major issue in Drumcree… I know sometimes people feel as if Northern Ireland was sorted thirty years ago…”
God forbid a sitting Cabinet Minister is asked a single question about welfare. Had a Tory tried to play this game three years ago, Bryant and Rayner would have been racing each other to tweet their outrage first…
Robert Jenrick on the Today programme:
“Can you now give a guarantee to your listeners this morning that no BBC presenter in the future will be exposed as a paedophile, as a number have been in the recent past? No, of course you can’t…”
