Angela Rayner’s MHCLG has deleted a promotional video in which officials interviewed a former Labour councillor who resigned after being accused of assault. Oops…
The department put out the above video to prove how hard GCSE politics questions are for pedestrians to answer – thereby proving that 16 and 17-year-olds should be given the vote. Non sequiturs abound…
Unfortunately one of the four people featured in the video is Niro Sirisena, the leftist Labour councillor previously known as “Corbyn’s DJ.” He resigned as a councillor in Croydon in September 2019 after a ‘serious incident’ and was placed under investigation by the Met Police. His ex-partner later accused him of assault and “an unforgivable violent crime”…
Sirisena is otherwise known for campaigning to take down murals of Winston Churchill. An MHCLG spokesperson said:
“These videos sought the views of various members of the public who were walking along the high street about the department’s policies. None of the contributors were arranged in advance and it featured numerous individuals.
We removed the videos as soon as we were made aware of the concerns relating to one of the contributors.”
How many supposed members of the public will turn out to be dodgy Labour politicians?
Andy Haldane, Burnham’s recent adviser on the economy who has not taken up a No10 job, told Andrew Marr on LBC:
“The market now suspects that this is a traditional tax-and-spend socialist government with better TikTok videos…
imposing windfall taxes on oil & gas or on banks or upping capital gains tax would […] repeat the mistake that Rachel made […] The Achilles heel, the fiscal Achilles heel of this government thus far has been its unwillingness and/or inability to cut public spending.”
