Olly Rob-Binned Again: The Observer is reporting this afternoon that Burnham has convinced Jonathan Powell to stay on as National Security Adviser. That would leave Olly Robbins out of the running – briefings this week strongly suggested he would get the role. Guido hears that idea was pushed hard by former Deputy Cabinet Secretary Helen MacNamara. A Downing Street source told Guido she is viewed as “mad and mostly bad… We don’t think Andy would do that to Keir. Olly left Keir in the dark and that can’t be rewarded no matter how close Helen is to James Purnell.”
