MP nominations: Candidates need at least 20% (81) of PLP support to be validly nominated. MPs may nominate themselves or one other.
Affiliate nominations: Candidates reaching the PLP threshold also need nominations from at least 3 affiliates (2 of which must be trade unions) or from 5% of CLPs.
CLP nominations: If a candidate misses the affiliate threshold, they need the support of at least 5% of CLPs instead.
Eligibility: Members with six months continuous membership before the timetable was announced can vote. Affiliated supporters qualify under separate criteria.
Ballot: Electronic voting (postal for those without email). Single round preferential system. If no candidate clears 50% in the first round, the lowest is eliminated and votes redistributed until one passes 50%.
