Ex-Reform Deputy Leader Ben Habib has announced he will shut down Advance UK, the right-of-Reform party he set up in June 2025. He told party members today:
“At least on the face of it, Restore Britain is a party that is very, very similar to Advance UK, and we don’t need this kind of confusion on the right hand side of british politics.
The responsible thing to do now… is for Advance UK to take a step back and allow the pressure that Restore Britain will undoubtedly bring on Reform and the Conservative party to develop.
Now is not the time for us to be standing in elections against Reform, against Restore… and just confusing the landscape.”
Habib says he will let members decide whether to wind up the party or “merge” with the ‘Great British PAC’ advocacy group which Habib claims would keep the party structures intact and “will continue to do what Advance UK was doing” after it deregisters from the Electoral Commission. Members might expect a refund…
Reform donor Christopher Harborne is also suing Habib for defamation after comments the Advance UK leader made about his relationship with Farage. The right with trot characteristics…
Former leader of the SNP in Westminster Ian Blackford told Times Radio why he believes Nicola Sturgeon’s claim that she spent no time in the kitchen and therefore didn’t see any of her husband’s purchases:
“She doesn’t have a passion for cooking.”
