Lindsay Hoyle has confirmed in the Commons that MPs will decide whether claims Starmer misled Parliament with his comments about Mandelson’s vetting go to the Privileges Committee. No10 has indicated it will whip Labour MPs against that eventuality…
No10 responds: “The government is engaging with the two parliamentary processes that are already running on Peter Mandelson’s appointment with full transparency. This is a desperate political stunt by the Conservative Party the week before the May elections because they have no answers on the cost of living or the NHS. Their claims have no substance.”
Red Wall Labour backbencher Jonathan Brash told GB News that Starmer should resign:
“I’m completely fed up about it, and I think it’s got to the point now where I genuinely think that, as far as the Prime Minister is concerned, it’s not a case of if, it’s when.”
