Downing Street is refusing to say how much it will cost to cap student loan interest payments at 6%. When asked, the Number 10 spokesman said at the Lobby briefing this afternoon:
“I think the RPI figure will be published later this month, costs and funding will be set out at the Budget in the usual way…”
The cap will come into force from September, yet the Budget could be held as late as the end of November. Almost three months later…
Speaking to Sky News off the back of Rachel Reeves’ Air Passenger Duty hike, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said:
“Labour is dependent on those Red Wall seats, and yet every move she makes poisons economic growth and damages the UK’s recovery… it’s the Chancellor who stumbles from policy misstep to policy misstep… I think her policy decisions are incredibly stupid.”
