Homelessness minister Alison McGovern was asked this morning by LBC‘s Nick Ferrari how many homeless people there are in the UK. She couldn’t answer…
After giving the government’s number of 80,000 – based on how many people report themselves as homeless – Ferrari asked whether she knew the actual estimate given by one of the UK’s biggest homeless charities Shelter. She gave up:
“I understand why you challenge me on knowing the numbers and I try to be across my brief, but I don’t know the latest Shelter figure off the top of my head.”
As of December last year Shelter said there were 382,000 homeless people in England. Excruciating to watch…
Asked about warnings of a civil war in an interview with The House, Reform MP Danny Kruger said:
“Yeah. The only chance of unity for our country is Reform. If we don’t win, or if we win and then make a mess of it, I do fear for our country.”
