David Lammy told Ministry of Justice staff that his second-top male role model was… Bill Cosby. Uhhhhhh…
Guido hears that Lammy was recording a video with the MoJ for International Men’s Day. He said growing up his personal top male role model was Nelson Mandela. When asked who his second top choice was, the ‘DPM’ (and Justice Secretary) said was Bill Cosby. The footage had to be cut…
Over 60 women have accused Cosby of among other things, “rape, drug-facilitated sexual assault, sexual battery, child sexual abuse and sexual harassment.” The first allegations against him were made in late 1965. In 2022 Cosby was found liable in the Los Angeles Supreme Court for having sexually assaulted a 16-year-old girl…
The Ministry of Justice declined to comment but a source close to Lammy said:
“This is a distortion. Lammy’s view is that Cosby’s crimes were abhorrent and he does not represent a role model for anyone in society… Lammy has previously talked about Cosby being seen as a role model in the 1980s for many young Black men, before his horrific crimes were known, in an era when positively portrayed Black faces were few and far between on TV.”
Interesting that he still named him as his second-favourite man ever in that case…
The day after Starmer U-turned and refused to blame Trump for the war Rachel Reeves told the Mirror:
“Obviously no sensible person is a supporter of the Iranian regime, but to start a conflict without being clear what the objectives are and not being clear about how you are going to get out of it, I do think that is a folly and it is one that is affecting families here in the UK but also families in the US and around the world.”
