Owen Jones arrived in Liverpool yesterday with Zack Polanski and entered Labour Conference to do his usual filming. Labour has taken issue…
The party says it is a ‘safeguarding’ issue: “We have a responsibility to safeguard all our delegates, staff, volunteers, and visitors, and to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone at conference. After careful consideration, we’ve concluded that we cannot continue your attendance while ensuring we meet our safeguarding obligations to all attendees.” It adds: “We hope you’ll understand that this decision was made with everyone’s wellbeing in mind”…
Chilling. Nicely timed ahead of Starmer’s speech…

“30 September 2025 Dear Mr Jones,
Important: Your Conference Pass has been Cancelled
I’m writing to let you know that we’ve had to make the difficult decision to cancel your conference pass with immediate effect, following complaints we have received about your conduct.
Why we’ve taken this action
We have a responsibility to safeguard all our delegates, staff, volunteers, and visitors, and to maintain a safe and welcoming environment for everyone at conference. After careful consideration, we’ve concluded that we cannot continue your attendance while ensuring we meet our safeguarding obligations to all attendees.
What this means
Your conference pass is no longer valid and you won’t be able to attend any further conference sessions on site.
Your data
We’ve used your personal information to manage this situation and ensure everyone’s safety. Full details about how we handle your data are available at labour.org.uk/privacy/
Looking forward
We hope you’ll understand that this decision was made with everyone’s wellbeing in mind. Any future applications for party events will be considered individually.
Yours sincerely,
Conference Services”
Tom Baldwin, author of Starmer’s hagiography, spoke to Times Radio:
Tom Baldwin: “I think he’d like to do something. He’s very dutiful and driven by service. That’s why he came into politics. I think that’s characterised his time as prime minister. He hasn’t always sought popularity or been good at being popular. But I think he has some of the necessary qualities that we actually do want in a prime minister. That resilience, that relentlessness, that ability to carry the weight and the job really does weigh very heavily on people and he carries that weight very, very well.”
Jo Coburn: “NATO Secretary-General?”
Tom Baldwin: “I think that’s something that he would be interested in. I think it probably requires Andy Burnham’s government to support him in that and these are some of the questions which Andy Burnham has to resolve quite quickly.”
