Culture Secretary Lisa Nandy has insisted the government’s digital ID plans will actually improve data security provided the government “get[s] it right”. Well, Guido’s convinced…
Running the morning media gauntlet with the same rehearsed lines, Nandy told GB News that the government knows “cybersecurity is a growing problem“, and acknowledged the major breach at Jaguar Land Rover is a concern. And M&S, the British Library, Harrods, and others…
“We’re taking that seriously. We’re bringing forward new laws, robust laws, to protect our cybersecurity. Every country in the world is dealing with that. But these two things can be done concurrently, and there are problems with offline ID. We’ve seen a rise in identity theft, people losing documents… if we get this right, and we’re determined to do so… it should be more secure.”
Yes, it’s the new laws that will put off cybercriminals…
Paula Barker, Liverpool Wavertree MP backing Andy Burnham, told Times Radio there wouldn’t be trouble from the markets under Burnham:
“The markets will have to fall in line.”
