BizSec Jonathan Reynolds told Times Radio he would only give Labour 7/10 for its first year:
“Well, if it was my department, I wouldn’t want to be immodest, but I’m really pleased with both the industrial strategy and the trade deals and some of the big things like British Steel. So I don’t want to put it on but look, for the government in terms of those foundations, I would be totally frank and give it something like a seven in terms of the things that have been put in place.”
Reynolds is in the habit of giving middling scores to the work of his own government. No wonder there isn’t a party tonight…
