YouGov has done a survey of 100 MPs, of which 72 were Labour, asking what they think of the state of Whitehall. It’s not good news for the blob-lovers…
Over half – 52% – say the civil service is working “badly”, with only 40% saying it’s working well. Just one lone optimist said it’s working “very well”…

The poll also found:
64% of MPs say the civil service is “too risk-averse and closed to new ideas.”
62% say the work gets done “too slowly.”
57% believe civil servants try to “block ministerial directions.”
Labour MPs are split down the middle: 46% say the blob works well, 46% say it doesn’t. Time to get the ‘chainsaw‘ out…
