UPDATE:
- The UK now enjoys the same tariff based trade relationship with the US as The Congo, Kosovo, and Costa Rica.
- Trump says: “April 2, 2025 will forever be remembered as the day American industry was reborn, the day America’s destiny was reclaimed, and the day that we began to make America wealthy again.”
- No 10 says: “No tariffs are good, not what we want. [That they] are lower than others vindicates our approach. This is important because the difference between 20% to 10% is lots of jobs. We will Keep negotiating, keep cool and calm. We want to negotiate a sustainable and trade deal, and of course want to get tariffs lowered. Tomorrow we will continue with that work”.
- UK to be charged 10% on imports equal to what he says the UK charges the US. The EU will be charged 20% on EU imports…
- Reciprocal tariffs to be calculated, non-monetary barriers plus tariffs to be combined. 50% of that calculation is to be charged as tariff by US.
- 25% tariff on all foreign-made cars. To come in at midnight…
