Rayner was asked her thoughts on Dodds’ resignation after her speech today:
“It is a really difficult decision that was made – but it was absolutely right that the Prime Minister and the Cabinet endorse the PM’s actions to spend more money on defence and we want to see the economy grow so that we can then get back to having more money to spend on things like overseas aid and on our public services.”
That is to say – you shouldn’t be in Cabinet if you can’t handle it. Dodds complained in her letter that she wasn’t able to discuss the cut with Starmer. Nice of her to wait until DC was over…
