Civil servants at the Care Quality Commission have been keeping themselves busy – first with a series of challenges for staff in a Race Equality Week and LGBT+ History Month. Exhausting stuff…
To recover from that Herculean effort, they’ve now launched something called the “Journey to Wellness Wellbeing Week.” ‘Wellbeing’ events will take place in the first week of March, when the “promise of spring is in the air,” after “what felt like a never-ending January and February.” Naturally, all sessions take place during working hours:
Hannah Sturland, the CQC’s pink-haired Deputy Director of ‘Employee Voice, Wellbeing and Inclusion’, told all civil servants at the agency:
“There’s a lot going on at CQC at the moment, which means it’s more important than ever to prioritise our mental health and wellbeing. That’s why we’re introducing a new Wellbeing Week next week. We’re calling it ‘Journey to Wellness’ because there’s no quick fix, or one-size-fits-all solution when it comes to our wellbeing. We all start from a different place, which means everyone’s wellbeing journey is unique. But taking small steps to look after ourselves and our colleagues can make a big difference. Throughout the week, we’ll be putting on events and sharing tips, ideas and resources to help you look after your own wellbeing, as well as supporting your colleagues, families, and friends, and we’d love you to take part. This is just the start of the conversation because wellbeing isn’t something we can ‘fix’ in a week. We hope that it inspires you to take action to support your wellbeing every day.”
Looks like this won’t be the end of the CQC’s mission to use working hours as creatively as possible. Annual taxpayer budget of this agency: £264 million…
Paula Barker, Liverpool Wavertree MP backing Andy Burnham, told Times Radio there wouldn’t be trouble from the markets under Burnham:
“The markets will have to fall in line.”
