Civil service departments across the board are continuing to centrally fund Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion courses for their staff – with bills hitting the roof. In an official parliamentary answer to Rupert Lowe the Housing department was forced to admit it spent a whopping £47,272 on training which “includes the awareness of diversity, equality, or inclusion as the main theme.” Other departments like Defra – which spent £1,246,267 in total on civil service training – are refusing to release the figures for their spend. The taxpayer may have a view on which should be prioritised. The Civil Service’s three-year Diversity and Inclusion Strategy is expiring this year – it is up to Labour to decide whether to keep funding this activity. UK DOGE recommends costs are cut here…
