Co-conspirators will recall the case of ex-Labour MP Jared O’Mara, who was convicted for six counts of expenses fraud, with the court hearing he submitted fake invoices worth £24,000 to the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority for work that was not carried out. The judge, summarising the case said O’Mara had forged invoices to fund his “extravagant lifestyle: drink, cigarettes and, above all, cocaine.” He was handed a four-year sentence in February 2023, suspended for two years…
Guido understands that O’Mara was released from prison in August 2024 after spending 18 months behind bars. Now, six months out of prison, he’s celebrating his newfound freedom. “You got sh*tfaced before a Look North TV interview and then harassed a female staff member.”
The court heard that O’Mara had consumed a full litre of vodka beforehand. He wasn’t the last Labour MP to be embroiled in scandal…
Speaking at his speech on how to achieve “progressive capitalism” Wes Streeting fired a dig and Andy Burnham:
“Bond markets are not bond villains and fiscal rules matter.”
