Shadow education secretary Laura Trott wrote to Commons leader Lucy Powell yesterday to ask if Starmer would correct the record after misleading the House. He claimed at PMQs that Labour had put down an amendment to fix the botched provisions of its Education Bill on teacher pay. Such an amendment still does not exist…
Starmer has duly been forced to correct the record after misleading the House:

The PM has submitted a correction and Hansard now reads that the amendment was announced, not tabled. Bridget’s becoming a bit more than a nuisance for Downing Street…
UPDATE: Labour has now published the amendment.
Speaking to Sky News off the back of Rachel Reeves’ Air Passenger Duty hike, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said:
“Labour is dependent on those Red Wall seats, and yet every move she makes poisons economic growth and damages the UK’s recovery… it’s the Chancellor who stumbles from policy misstep to policy misstep… I think her policy decisions are incredibly stupid.”
