Badenoch asked Starmer why migration wasn’t one of his new reset “milestones” and went on to attack his record of writing letters saying criminals shouldn’t be deported. Starmer hit back by citing his record as a DPP and pointing out that it was Tory government who failed to deport criminals: “A one nation experiment in open borders under the last government — and she was the champion.” The new open borders experiment line getting a lot of airtime…
Badenoch pointed out that Starmer “voted against more than 100 measures to control migration. He even said it was wrong when the Conservatives took away Shamima Begum’s citizenship. Now he has appointed her defence lawyer as his attorney general.” Oof…
The leaders scrapped over whether or not to put a cap on migration numbers and Badenoch said the Tories have “acknowledged where things went wrong” while the PM “will never take responsibility” for having scrapped the Rwanda deterrent. Neither leader looking rosy coming out of this one…
Red Wall Labour backbencher Jonathan Brash told GB News that Starmer should resign:
“I’m completely fed up about it, and I think it’s got to the point now where I genuinely think that, as far as the Prime Minister is concerned, it’s not a case of if, it’s when.”
