The expected ‘national conversation’ has been had today after Australian Senator Lidia Thorpe’s attention-seeking rant at the King in Parliament House. The usual snooze-inducing suspects have seized on it to complain about the monarchy…
One Labour councillor’s contribution has been to praise Thorpe for speaking up “when faced with the human representative of the genocidal forces which almost wiped out your people.” Councillor Maurice Mcleod, who also regularly writes for the Guardian where he is described as an “anti-racism activist and social commentator,” tweeted his warm words along with a bizarre music video made up of photos of the King. Mcleod claims he was recently blocked from standing to be a Labour MP in London – God knows why…
Speaking to Sky News off the back of Rachel Reeves’ Air Passenger Duty hike, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said:
“Labour is dependent on those Red Wall seats, and yet every move she makes poisons economic growth and damages the UK’s recovery… it’s the Chancellor who stumbles from policy misstep to policy misstep… I think her policy decisions are incredibly stupid.”
