David Lammy was wheeled out this morning to represent the government’s position on the ongoing crisis following Iranian missiles launching into Israel and further reports of an imminent Israeli ground invasion in Lebanon. Lammy said he would really like to see:

“A plan that allows for Israelis to move back to their homes in northern Israel and allows the Lebanese to move back to their homes in southern Israel.”

He clearly missed the memo that in fact, Lebanese people would probably want to go to south Lebanon, not Israel. Unlike Starmer’s “release the sausages” moment, Lammy didn’t correct himself. Our Foreign Secretary, everyone…
