Tulip Siddiq Skips Labour’s Bangladesh Event After Autocrat Aunt and Mother Flee Country mdi-fullscreen

Labour MP and freshly-minted City Minister Tulip Siddiq has been a regular fixture at the Labour Friends of Bangladesh event at Labour conference over the years, having spoken at the event for last two. Curiously, this year she was absent. It could be because of her new role. Or it’s a little bit closer to home…

As Guido reported at the time, Tulip’s aunt is Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister and autocrat of Bangladesh, who was forced to flee the country. When the military came knocking, they reportedly held talks with Hasina’s sister, Rehana Siddiq, trying to convince her to follow suit. Rehana being none other than Tulip’s mother. With “friends” like these, it’s no wonder she didn’t attend the event…
