The New European anti-Brexit whinge fest splashed its cover with cartoons of Tory MPs alongside the headline ‘End of the Party’. Whilst most caricatures are often unflattering, one in particular caught Guido’s eye. Suella Braverman – a prominent Israel supporter -was placed front and centre, shown with exaggerated features, including beady eyes and a big nose. The cartoon clearly shows her looking behind Sunak’s shoulder, which has echoes of the antisemitic ‘puppet master’ trope. The portrayal is particularly concerning given that Braverman’s husband is Jewish… 

Sadly, this isn’t the first time Braverman has been grotesquely caricatured. A Lib Dem candidate posted a grotesque racial caricature of her a few weeks ago, swiftly resigning afterwards. Currently, a woman is on trial for allegedly depicting Braverman as a coconut. Yesterday, Braverman admitted she still needs 24/7 police protection for the abuse she faces in public over her pro-Israel views. It seems the self-righteous New European doesn’t hold itself to the same level of standards they hold others. Apologies to come?
