The Sun’s Harry Cole grilled Rishi Sunak on immigration numbers tonight, pointing to the fact that number of migrants arriving in small boats is 18% higher than the total at the equivalent point last year. Sunak hit back:
“Those illegal migrants will not be on flights to Rwanda…and by the way, I can tell you now, they are queuing up in Calais waiting for a Labour government so they can come here and stay here!”
A feisty comment that was met with applause from the audience…
Speaking to Sky News off the back of Rachel Reeves’ Air Passenger Duty hike, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said:
“Labour is dependent on those Red Wall seats, and yet every move she makes poisons economic growth and damages the UK’s recovery… it’s the Chancellor who stumbles from policy misstep to policy misstep… I think her policy decisions are incredibly stupid.”
