The Labour candidate for Wolverhampton West, Warinder Juss, has been distributing campaign leaflets featuring endorsements from various supporters – a routine campaign move. One particular leaflet prominently displays the endorsement of Diane Vukmirovic, the Chair of AgeUK Wolverhampton. Flirting perilously with electoral law…

AgeUK is a charity, and according to the Charity Commission, charities are strictly prohibited from promoting, or appearing to promote, any political party or candidate. Charity leaders are specifically tasked with “protecting [their] charity’s reputation” as independent. A Tory source tells Guido:
“Labour are sailing close to the wind on electoral law yet again – they keep repeating this behaviour across the country. The receipts are being kept and we are sure will be studied in due course by the Electoral Commission.”
Labour bagging a charity chair to endorse their candidate then is not quite the win they may think it is…
Starmer loyalist and Housing Secretary Steve Reed told Sky News that Starmer should not be replaced:
“We saw what the Tories did. They were in power for 14 years, and after 2016, I think we had nine education secretaries, seven chancellors, and five Prime Ministers. Doomscrolling through Prime Ministers doesn’t resolve the problem.”
