Wes Streeting gloats that “it was only thanks to Labour MPs that this bill passed”, which is not true as if Labour had abstained the ban would still have passed. No LibDems voted against the ban which shows how wrongly named is that party. The LibDems remain in favour of unbanning cannabis smoking.
Just 53% of Tory MPs voted in favour of Rishi Sunak’s smoking ban. One way or another 165 Tory MPs didn’t vote the way Rishi wanted. The Tories were the only split party with ministers that voted against the ban including Steve Baker, Andrew Griffith, Julia Lopez, Lee Rowley and deputy chairman Jonathan Gullis. Leadership hopefuls Kemi Badenoch voted against and Penny Mordaunt abstained…
Speaking to Sky News off the back of Rachel Reeves’ Air Passenger Duty hike, Ryanair chief executive Michael O’Leary said:
“Labour is dependent on those Red Wall seats, and yet every move she makes poisons economic growth and damages the UK’s recovery… it’s the Chancellor who stumbles from policy misstep to policy misstep… I think her policy decisions are incredibly stupid.”
