The LibDems up in Harrogate have landed themselves in hot water with their usual election chicanery by claiming on leaflets that “the Green’s (sic) have stood down this election.” The Greens, who are in fact standing, said “the Lib Dems need to read what they put through people’s letterboxes.” They’d probably fall asleep if they did…

Now the Greens have referred the LibDems to the police over the matter and local Tory MP Andrew Jones has waded in. Jones has released a spicy enough letter he sent to LibDem leader Ed Davey which alleges that his local party:

• Made numerous untrue statements about Jones.
• Had the police called in on them for illegally sending out campaign literature.
• Trolled Jones by trying to have his personal details doxxed.
• Faced an investigation by the Information Commissioner for more dodgy electioneering.
• Had one of their councillors arrested for antisemitic statements.
• Had the police called in on them yet again.

All that amounts to a normal day at the office for the LibDems…
