Ireland’s entire cabinet has gone into self-isolation and the Dáil Éireann (parliament) is closing for a week after the health minister tested positive for coronavirus. Stephen Donnelly began to feel unwell this afternoon and contacted his doctor for a test, according to broadcaster RTE. The speaker of the house just told members the Dáil: “very serious information arriving out of events today the Cabinet must self isolate”.
UPDATE: Stephen Donnelly says he tested negative. So all for nowt. A lot of people will wonder why parliament and government went in to lockdown on mere suspicion of coronavirus when schools don’t when a child actually tests positive. Seems different rules were applied…
