31 Years Since the Tiananmen Square Massacre Today

Today marks 31 years since the Tiananmen Square Massacre brought a brutal end to the month and a half long pro-democracy protests centring in Beijing’s Tiananmen Square.

The protestors constructed a ten metre tall statue out of foam and papier-mâché. They called her the Goddess of Democracy and Freedom.

On June 4, 1989, the Chinese state opened fire on the student-led protesters. Remember them.
