Sajid Javid has taken a kicking for supposedly accusing the Article 50 judges of thwarting democracy on Question Time. Saj’s apparent attack was raised by Peston and John Humphrys, a Times news article covered the story, Lord Patten called for him to be sacked and Yvette Cooper repeated it in the House. Just one problem: he didn’t actually say it.

Read the Question Time transcript and Sajid in fact defends the judges and the independence of the judiciary, reserving criticism only for those who brought the court case:

SJ: This is an attempt to frustrate the will of the British people, and it is unacceptable. That’s what it is.

DD: So you’re saying the judges are trying to frustrate democracy?

SJ: No, the people who have brought the court case.

So the whole row was caused by Peston, Humphrys, the Times, Patten and Cooper not bothering to watch Question Time or read what Javid actually said. The Times has been forced to issue a correction:
