MPs Demanding Brexit Vote Didn’t Turn Up for EU Debates mdi-fullscreen

Labour MPs in denial about the referendum result have been demanding parliament gets a vote on triggering Article 50. Sore loser David Lammy cries: “We can stop this madness and bring this nightmare to an end through a vote in parliament. Our sovereign parliament needs to vote now on whether we should exit the EU”. Embarrassingly, according to analysis on the They Work For You website, Lammy was absent for the vast majority of previous key Commons debates on the EU. Of the 42 “key votes” on Europe that Lammy could have attended, he turned up for a measly 13. They Work For You report that Lammy “has never voted on UK membership of the EU”. If he cared so much, maybe he should have turned up for work…

Lammy’s colleague Mike Gapes meanwhile says that respecting the decision of the nation is “deplorable” and “undemocratic”, insisting “parliament must decide”. This is a novel approach for Gapes. According to They Work For You website, of the 42 previous key EU votes that Gapes could have taken part in, he turned up for just 23. Bit late now for them to make pious pronouncements about parliamentary sovereignty… Give it up, losers…
