Labour MPs in denial about the referendum result have been demanding parliament gets a vote on triggering Article 50. Sore loser David Lammy cries: “We can stop this madness and bring this nightmare to an end through a vote in parliament. Our sovereign parliament needs to vote now on whether we should exit the EU”. Embarrassingly, according to analysis on the They Work For You website, Lammy was absent for the vast majority of previous key Commons debates on the EU. Lammy’s colleague Mike Gapes meanwhile says that respecting the decision of the nation is “deplorable” and “undemocratic”, insisting “parliament must decide”.
