PM Off on Two Week Holiday to Switzerland mdi-fullscreen

Theresa May is off on holiday today – she will be enjoying two weeks outside of the EU in sunny Switzerland. The PM famously enjoys bracing walking holidays there with her husband Philip. In 2007, when she was Shadow Leader of the Commons, May offered this travel advice:

“We have two favourite areas in particular: Zermatt and the Bernese Oberland. Both are fantastic for walking: Zermatt is pretty high and most of the walks have wonderful views of the Matterhorn; and the Bernese Oberland is overlooked by three stunning mountains: the Eiger, Jungfrau and Mönch.

A good time to go is June when a lot of wild flowers are blooming. Sadly, Parliament is sitting at that time of the year so we usually visit in August. If you go, the key thing is to go well prepared – and invest in a good pair of walking boots!”

Guido has just had a week in the region topping up his tan, swimming in the lakes and going up and down mountains in search of a good view restaurant. She will be back in the UK on August 24…
