It just gets worse. 8 months before she became an MP, Naz Shah compared “Apartheid Israel” to “Hitler”. Tory MP Oliver Dowden has this afternoon written to Jeremy Corbyn demanding he expels Shah from the party:
I write regarding the conduct of the shadow Chancellor’s former Parliamentary Private Secretary, Naseem Shah MP. Today it has been revealed that Mrs Shah shared a deeply offensive graphic, just eight months before her selection as Labour’s candidate for Bradford West, arguing that Israeli Jews should be ‘relocated’ to America…
Following allegations of institutional anti-Semitism within Labour, the shadow Chancellor pledged permanent expulsion from the party for those expressing such hateful opinions. He said: ‘Out, out, out. If people express these views, full stop they’re out.. People might be able to reform their views and the rest of it. On this? I can’t see it. I’m not having it. People might say ‘I’ve changed my views’ – well, do something in another organisation.’
Could you confirm that this zero tolerance approach will be applied to the shadow Chancellor’s former Parliamentary Private Secretary? A failure to act would call into question the commitment of the Labour Party to deal with wholly unacceptable behaviour and would constitute a betrayal of the values that all those who believe in democracy should uphold.
I would appreciate a reply as soon as possible confirming what steps you intend to take.
Oliver Dowden MP
There is still no comment from the Labour leader today…
