Diane Abbott Jetting Off to Zurich Six Days Before May Elections

Just six days before the London mayoral election and local elections in May, Diane Abbott will be jetting off to Switzerland to dine with investment bankers, tax avoiders and the one percent. Diane will be the guest of the British-Swiss Chamber of Commerce at a three course lunch at one of the most spectacular hotels in Zurich, the iconic Zunfthaus zur Meisen:

Zurich-based businessmen who want to pay £100-a-head to lunch with Diane will enjoy a menu offering veal fricassee with mashed saffron potatoes, roasted pike-perch with parsley foam on potato cream and ratatouille, and white chocolate mousse with apricots jelly and tarragon cream. The cheapest bottle of wine is £32. The two hour lunch followed by keynote speech and Q&A session will take place on April 29. Labour campaigners back home will be delighted Diane thinks schmoozing the gnomes of Zurich is a better use of her time…

Quote of the Day

Lucy Allan explains her positive comments about the Brexit Party…

“If EU elections are held, Leave supporting voters will want to vote for Leave supporting candidates… Usual party loyalties will be eclipsed by the Leave v Remain divide. It’s good to see strong candidates in the Leave camp. However, I sincerely hope we leave the EU before these elections are held so that we can move on and not waste time and money on unnecessary EU elections.”
