Two months ago Labour’s Shadow City minister, Richard “farting commie“ Burgon, admitted that he hadn’t actually met anyone from the City. Last week, City AM were forced to ask “Have you seen this man?”, as clueless Burgon was still missing from the Square Mile.
Until now.
Guido can reveal that – finally – Burgon has had a genuine, real-life, sit-down discussion with representatives from the financial sector. He recently met with ‘Labour in the City’, a networking club for bankers and other financial services workers who are (or at least were) sympathetic to the party. How did it go? “It was very tough,” sighs a pinstriped source. Still, small steps…
