Over a thousand people started arriving on Whitehall at 1am this morning to welcome President Xi, clearly expecting him to drive from Buckingham Palace, down the Mall and then along Whitehall on his way to parliament. Sadly for them the police motorcade took him the back way round St James’ and down Horseferry Road. Still, made for a good photo op…
